Dean: “Honestly? The damnedest thing. I mean, the world’s ending. The walls are coming down on us, and I look over to you and all I can think about is, “this stupid son of a bitch brought me here.” I just didn’t want to let you down.”Okay, let’s talk about this episode. Let’s talk about how Dean was ready to give up and say yes to Michael. Let’s talk about how - in the end - he didn’t give. He didn’t give up, because of Sam. Because Sam believed in him. Because he knew that Dean could never give up. Sam believed in Dean when everyone else (and Dean himself) stopped believing in Dean. Sam had faith in Dean when Dean couldn’t believe in Sam. Dean has always been there for Sam. Dean would give up everything and do everything for Sam. It has always been Dean. Dean is the reason why Sam still believes.
And Dean? Dean just couldn’t give up because disappointing Sam is worse than anything else. Sam is Dean’s motivation. It has always been Sam. Sam is Dean’s inspiration. Sam is his weakspot. Sam is the reason Dean will never give up. Sam is the other half of his soul.
In the end, it will always be Sam and Dean. The only reason why they haven’t given up yet is because they have each other. They love other people, of course they do, but if they have to, they could live without them - as long as they have each other. They need each other.
It has always been Sam and Dean. And it will end with Sam and Dean.

Walt: He made us and we just snuffed his brother, you idiot. You want to spend the rest of your life knowing Dean Winchester’s on your ass, ‘cause I don’t. Shoot ‘im.
Dean: Go ahead, Roy, do it. But I’m going warn you, when I come back I’m going to be pissed. C’mon! Let’s get this show on the road.

“Demons run when a good man goes to war
Night will fall and drown the sun
When a good man goes to warFriendship dies and true love lies
Night will fall and the dark will rise
When a good man goes to warDemons run, but count the cost
The battle’s won, but the child is lost”

Third panel, Sam’s face:
Jared does this awesome burst of subtle controlled anger there, like Sam is mad that Dean can’t have faith in him or trust him to save him. Followed by hurt. And then the stubborn kicks in…
